Wednesday, September 22

6:00-7:30 pm: Modern Dance Workshop. A workshop in Paul Taylor technique for intermediate and advanced dance students, taught by Ted Thomas of Thomas/Ortiz Dance. Held at Shoreline Ballet Studio. Preregistration required. Masks required. Register here.

 

Thursday, September 23

6:00-7:30 pm: West African Dance Workshop. A workshop in West African Dance for intermediate and advanced dance students, taught by Iddi Saaka. Held at Shoreline Ballet Studio. Preregistration required. Masks required. Register here.

 

Friday, September 24

6:15-9:15 pm: Taste of the Festival. An evening benefit for the festival, featuring live music, small plates, American arts-themed wine, local beer and soft drinks, and dessert. Festival artists will offer a taste of the works they’ll be premiering over the weekend. Guilford Green main tent. Get tickets here. Covid-19 restrictions apply.

 

Saturday, September 25

12:00 pm: All the World’s a Stage: A Guilford Love Story (Julie Fitzpatrick). Followed by post-show talk. Guilford Green main tent.

1:45 pm: Listen! Creating a Community Spoken Word Piece (Julie Fitzpatrick). 60-minute workshop in which participants will create and perform their own spoken-word theatrical scenes. Guilford Green workshop tent.

4:00 pm: [Invisible Cities] Humanity, Memory and Decay: A Suite for Jazz Nonet (Skyler Hagner). Followed by post-show talk. Guilford Green main tent.

7:00 pm: The Homewrecker (Emily Breeze and Marialena DiFabbio). Followed by post-show talk. Guilford Green main tent.

 

Sunday, September 26

12:00 pm: Prudence Crandall and Sarah Harris: Whole-Souled Women (Ruth Lewis/Dimensional Dance). Followed by post-show talk. Guilford Green main tent.

1:30 pm: Breakdown of “Together” (Thomas/Ortiz Dance): Participatory 90-minute workshop introducing dancers and non-dancers alike to the themes, technique and choreography of the dances that will be premiered that evening. Guilford Green workshop tent.

3:00 pm: Blurring the Surface (Iddi Saaka). Followed by post-show talk. Guilford Green main tent.

3:30 pm: African Dance: Technique, Tradition, Culture and Community (Iddi Saaka): A 90-minute workshop that introduces participants to the techniques of West African dance, placing them in the context of the cultures, traditions, rituals and acts of daily life from which they emerge. Accompanied by live West African drumming. Guilford Green workshop tent.

6:00 pm: Together (Thomas/Ortiz Dance). Followed by post-show talk. Guilford Green main tent.
