The Guilford Performing Arts Festival has an opening for a paid intern, and we’re looking for a college student, emerging creative professional or military veteran for a roughly four-month position in marketing and production. The intern will work approximately 250 hours between June and September, helping to promote and produce the festival. The pay will be $15 an hour.

Working with the festival’s head of marketing, the intern will help create marketing materials; keep our website up-to-date; produce and distribute email communications and news releases; assist with our social media presence; help develop and maintain our audience, performer, donor and vendor database; identify, source and manage performer and event photography; oversee publication of the festival program; and design and implement an audience survey. Attendance at board of directors and committee meetings will give the intern an inside view of the operation, management and decision-making of a non-profit performing arts organization.

Working with our line producer, the intern will coordinate communications with talent and venues, compile our technical and logistical production book, schedule the festival’s acts, and match artist and venue requirements. Applicants must have their own transportation and be capable of working out of offices in Branford and Guilford, as well as on location in Guilford.

This opportunity has been made available to us under the Arts Workforce Initiative, a program of the Connecticut Office of the Arts that provides hands-on experience for people with experience in and/or the desire to grow professionally in the arts. To qualify, applicants must be Connecticut residents; be enrolled in an accredited college or university OR be an emerging arts professional (age 40 and under), or be a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces.

We only recently learned that we’d been selected for the program, and the application deadline is MONDAY, April 22, 2019. Application is through the Connecticut Office of the Arts, not directly to the Guilford Performing Arts Festival.
