About 70 people attended our reception for the first-ever Guilford Performing Arts Festival Artists’ Award recipients, sharing wine and food, enjoying performances by and conversations with award winners Noah Baerman and Susan Cinoman, and getting an update on plans for the 2019 festival.

Baerman performed music from his newest CD, The Rock and the Redemption, while actors Nora Fox and Kevin Paley did a staged reading of a portion of Cinoman’s play Guenevere, directed by Hannah Simms.

We raised more than $2,200 in donations toward the 2019 festival, which on top of significant seed money contributed by the Guilford Foundation puts us in a good position to put on a larger, more diverse and more impactful program than we did in 2017.

The 2019 festival will take place September 26-29, 2019, at more than 20 venues in Guilford. We plan to present approximately 100 performances, workshops, readings, conversations and other events in music, drama, dance, spoken word and other performing arts—all free to the public.

Collaboration with schools and community groups will bring performers in to work with various populations to be determined, including students, seniors, people in recovery and the physically or mentally challenged.

Watch this space for details as we solidify our plans, prepare to launch a new website, kick up our fundraising efforts, bolster our volunteer numbers, begin booking acts, and announcing our performers and schedule. We invite you to get involved—as a performer, financial supporter, volunteer, venue or collaborating partner.
