After premiering the festival-commissioned dance duet Blurring the Surface at the 2021 festival, Iddi Saaka, Shirley Sullivan and John Dankwa performed it as part of Wesleyan University’s Fall Faculty Dance Concert in December.
Saaka, assistant professor of dance at Wesleyan, was the recipient of a 2020 festival Artists’ Award in dance. He created the piece in collaboration with Sullivan, a 2021 Wesleyan graduate; and Dankwa, an assistant professor of music at Wesleyan who composed the piece’s original music.
Unfortunately, because of Covid, the concert was not open to the public. You can see photos from it here.
