Artist Bio

Actress and playwright Virginia Wolf founded Herstory Theater to produce three shows about little-known women in American history: Panic in Connecticut, Accused Witches Have Their Say; Katy Leary and Mark Twain; and Mary Rowlandson, Indian Captive, about a 17th century woman held captive by Native Americans from the Wampanoag Tribe during King Philip’s War. Herstory Theater has since become a home for other projects about lesser-known women in history, including works written by other Connecticut playwrights and staged by ensemble casts.
