Madison Lyric Stage co-founders Marc Deaton and John Johmann, plus members of the company’s Emerging Artists Program, will perform selections from the musicals Sunday in the Park with George, Parade, The Secret Garden, Pippin and Phantom of the Opera; from the operas Der Rosenkavalier, Pearlfishers and Madama Butterfly; and from the company’s upcoming October production of Hansel and Gretel.
Madison Lyric Stage is a professional theater company that presents high-quality entertainment from the worlds of opera, musical theater and drama. Founder and Artistic Director Marc Deaton is a producer, director, playwright, actor and tenor who has appeared with leading opera companies and orchestras throughout the world. His performance in the title role of Tristan und Isolde, recorded with the Bulgarian Festival Orchestra, was released by Centaur Records, as was his solo CD of excerpts from Wagner recorded with the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra. He has played key musical theatre roles including Che in Evita, Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, Tony in West Side Story and the title role in Candide on leading stages in Europe. Past Madison Lyric Stage productions include A Little Night Music, Agnes of God, Blithe Spirit, Company, Evita, Into the Woods, Jesus Christ Superstar, Macbeth, Peter Grimes, Salome, The Glass Menagerie and The Turn of the Screw.
