Dolores will give a reading from her most recent book of poems, Exuberance, set in the earliest years of American aviation, when daredevil pilots—women and men—thrilled spectators who had never seen an airplane. She will also conduct a discussion with the audience on poetry, history, aviation and the writing process.
Urban historian and poet Dolores Hayden writes lyric poetry with a strong storytelling component. A Guilford resident, she is the author of three poetry collections: American Yard; Nymph, Dun and Spinner; and Exuberance. She’s received awards from the Poetry Society of America and the New England Poetry Club. Dolores is professor emerita of Architecture and American Studies at Yale University and is the author of six books on the history of American landscapes, towns and cities.
