Guilford Performing Arts Festival Brings Audiences to Their Feet
Were you there? If not, you missed what some are calling “the best event on the shoreline”—the Guilford Performing Arts Festival. With more than 40 events spanning four days, October 12-15, the festival performers played to crowds that filled many of the venues to capacity.
Cheers, clapping and standing ovations ended performances that brought alive eras past, from the days of Johann Sebastian Bach, one of the greatest composers of all time, to the reincarnation of Woody Guthrie. It was Broadway in Guilford, cabaret, the sounds of swing and big bands reverberating through the community center, fiddlers and rock stars, song-writing and performers’ workshops and much, much more.
And all of this was free, thanks to the support of the presenting sponsor Guilford Foundation, as well as Bishop’s Orchards Guilford Farm Market & Winery, Guilford Savings Bank, Page Hardware & Appliance Co., Royal Printing Service, Shoreline Arts Alliance, Zip06, Mercy by the Sea, Rotary Club of Guilford Connecticut USA and many other personal sponsors and patrons.
If you missed the celebration this year, Guilford Performing Arts Festival Chair William Boughton is assuring the town that the festival will be back again in two years.
